Following our introduction to Sapporo, this time we will explore Central Hokkaido!
Located in the central part of Hokkaido, this region is home to many of the island’s most popular destinations, including Otaru, Shakotan, Niseko, Lake Toya, and Noboribetsu. From beautiful coastlines, mountains, and lakes to historic streets, relaxing hot springs, and delicious local cuisine, Central Hokkaido offers a wide variety of experiences. Just a short trip from Sapporo, you can discover a completely different side of Hokkaido surrounded by nature.

Otaru
Otaru is one of Hokkaido’s most popular tourist destinations and can be reached from Sapporo in about 40 minutes by train. Once a thriving port town, Otaru still retains many historic stone warehouses and charming buildings from its past.
